Terms and Conditions
Last updated: May 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our mobile application and associated services (collectively, the "Platform"). Please read them carefully before creating an account or submitting a business listing.
By creating an account, submitting a business application, or using the Platform in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
1. About Us
We operate the Platform, which connects consumers with local businesses offering discounts, deals, and loyalty rewards. We act as an intermediary between consumers and businesses — we are not a party to any transaction between them.
For questions about these Terms, contact us at: [step.mail.services@gmail.com]
2. Definitions
| Term | Meaning |

| Business | An individual or legal entity that lists services or discounts on the Platform |
| Business Owner | The individual who submits and manages a Business listing |

| We / Us / Our | The operator of the Platform |
3. Eligibility
3.1 Consumers
You must be at least 18 years of age to create a Consumer account. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not knowingly permit users under 18 to register. If we become aware that an account has been created by someone under 18, we will suspend it immediately.
The Platform is designed for university students and adults. You agree to provide accurate information when registering.
3.2 Business Owners
By submitting a business application or redeeming an invite, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the legal authority to enter into this agreement on behalf of the Business
- The Business is a legitimate trading entity operating lawfully under UK law
- All information provided in your application is accurate and complete
We reserve the right to request evidence of identity, trading status, or authority at any time. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal from the Platform.
4. Account Registration
4.1 Consumer accounts
You must register with a valid email address and a secure password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
4.2 Business accounts
Business Owners register through either:
- Organic application — submitted via the Platform and subject to our approval process
- Direct invite — via an invite link sent to a specific email address, which bypasses the approval queue and places the Business in a setup state immediately
In both cases, the Business listing is not visible to Consumers until the profile is complete and the Business is published as active.
4.3 Account sharing
Accounts are personal and non-transferable. You must not share your account credentials with any third party.
5. Business Listings
5.1 Accuracy of information
Business Owners are solely responsible for ensuring that all listing information — including business name, address, contact details, opening hours, images, tags, and discounts — is accurate, up to date, and not misleading.
5.2 Discount obligations
When a Business publishes a Discount on the Platform, it creates a legally binding commitment to honour that Discount to any Consumer who redeems it within the stated terms. The Business Owner is solely responsible for:
- Ensuring the Discount is valid at the time of display
- Honouring redeemed Discounts presented by Consumers
- Setting accurate validity windows, redemption caps, and terms
- Updating or deactivating Discounts that are no longer available
We are not liable for any failure by a Business to honour a Discount. Disputes between Consumers and Businesses are the responsibility of the parties involved.
5.3 Prohibited listings
Businesses must not list services that are:
- Unlawful under UK law
- Misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive
- Related to age-restricted products (alcohol, tobacco, gambling, adult content) without appropriate age verification in place
- Operated by a person under 18 or without legal authority
5.4 Images and content
Business Owners warrant that all images, descriptions, and other content they upload do not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, are not defamatory, and are not otherwise unlawful. We reserve the right to remove any content that we deem inappropriate without prior notice.
5.5 Setup and publication
Following approval or invite redemption, a Business listing is placed in a setting up state. The Business is not visible to Consumers during this period. The Business Owner is responsible for completing their profile — including name, contact details, address, and at least one image — before publishing. We do not guarantee any timeline for profile completion review.
6. The Approval Process
6.1 Organic applications
Businesses that apply organically are reviewed by our team before being approved. We reserve the right to approve or reject any application at our sole discretion, without being required to give reasons. Approval is not guaranteed.
6.2 Invited businesses
Businesses invited directly by us are pre-approved and bypass the standard review queue. Invited businesses are still required to complete their profile and meet our listing standards before going live.
6.3 Recommendations
Consumers may recommend unapproved businesses for consideration. A recommendation does not constitute approval or any commitment by us to list the Business.
7. QR Code Redemptions
7.1 How redemptions work
Each Consumer account is associated with a unique QR code linked to their public identity. When a Consumer scans their QR code at a participating Business, a redemption is recorded against the relevant Discount.
7.2 Consumer responsibility
Consumers must not attempt to:
- Share, copy, or replicate their QR code for use by another person
- Circumvent redemption caps or validity restrictions
- Fraudulently claim Discounts they are not entitled to
7.3 Business responsibility
Businesses must not:
- Scan a Consumer's QR code without their knowledge or consent
- Record false redemptions
- Manipulate visit counts or redemption data
Fraudulent redemption activity by either party is grounds for immediate account suspension and may be reported to relevant authorities.
8. Consumer Subscriptions and Notifications
8.1 Following businesses
Consumers may subscribe to Business listings to receive notifications about new deals. Subscribing does not create any contractual relationship between the Consumer and the Business.
8.2 Push notifications
Push notifications are sent subject to the notification preferences you set in the app. You can opt out of marketing notifications at any time in Settings. Certain service notifications (account security, redemption confirmations) may be sent regardless of marketing preferences as they are necessary for the service.
8.3 Notification limits
We apply daily notification limits to prevent excessive messaging. These limits are set globally and may be adjusted from time to time.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our content
All software, design, text, graphics, logos, and other content forming part of the Platform (excluding Business-submitted content) is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by UK copyright and intellectual property law. You must not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Platform without our written consent.
9.2 Your content
By submitting content to the Platform (including business descriptions, images, and tags), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and reproduce that content on the Platform and in related marketing materials. You retain ownership of your content.
9.3 Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide to us about the Platform may be used by us freely without any obligation to you.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Platform you confirm you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Key points:
- We collect only the data necessary to operate the Platform
- Behavioural data (visit history, category interests) is only processed with your explicit consent
- Location data is stored at postcode district level only — we do not store precise GPS coordinates
- You may withdraw consent, request access to your data, or request erasure at any time by contacting [step.mail.services@gmail.com]
- We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): [Registration number]
10.1 Minimum age
The Platform is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe an account has been created by a person under 18, please contact us at [step.mail.services@gmail.com] so we can investigate and remove the account.
11. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use the Platform to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Upload viruses, malware, or any harmful code
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform or its databases
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Platform
- Engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the Platform's operation
- Create fake Business listings or Consumer accounts
12. Suspension and Termination
12.1 By us
We may suspend or terminate your account, or remove a Business listing, at any time and without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have:
- Breached these Terms
- Engaged in fraudulent or misleading conduct
- Caused harm to another user, a Business, or us
- Failed to honour Discount obligations (Business Owners)
On termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15 survive termination.
12.2 By you
You may close your Consumer account at any time via Settings. Business Owners may request removal of their listing by contacting us. Data retention following closure is governed by our Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including:
- That the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- That any Discount will be honoured by a Business
- That Business listing information is accurate or complete
- That search results or recommendations are suitable for your purposes
We do not endorse any Business listed on the Platform. The presence of a listing does not constitute a recommendation.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable UK law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Platform
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed £100 or the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law
14.1 Consumer statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
15. Disputes Between Consumers and Businesses
We are not a party to any transaction, agreement, or dispute between a Consumer and a Business. If a Business fails to honour a Discount, your recourse is against the Business directly. We may, at our sole discretion, assist in dispute resolution but we are under no obligation to do so and accept no liability for the outcome.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland (respectively) shall have jurisdiction.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Platform and close your account.
18. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Platform and supersede all prior agreements.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
Assignment: We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent.
No third-party rights: These Terms do not confer any rights on third parties under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
